2022 Workshop Details

StoryBox Arts is located in Cooroibah, Sunshine Coast, Qld. Our fun multipurpose garage studio is set on two and a half acres of picturesque tropical landscaped gardens with a splash of bushland.

We offer small-group art workshops and creative writing workshops for children in the following age groups:

Yrs 1-6

Our school term and holiday program include but, is not limited to, experiences in drawing with different media, including pencil, biro, pastels, and charcoal, painting with watercolours, acrylics, and special effects such as marbling, scratch art, and other mixed media activities, including collage, to name a small selection. Wherever possible, we endeavor to include artistic styles and introduce students to a variety of artists who have made an impact in the art industry. We love to make use of children’s literature to link to our artistic experiences.

We often take walks around the gardens to practice observational drawings and short mindfulness exercises and to breathe in the quiet, fresh air where the coast meets the hinterland.

Yr 1-6 After School Term Art Workshops

Thursday Afternoons: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Suitable: Yr 1-6
Duration: 1.5hrs
Small groups:

Cost:

$27 per participant/session

Sibling rate: $26/session 

Drop-in week to week: $30 per participant per session.

Term: $27 x 10 week term = $270

PLEASE NOTE:  A MINIMUM OF 4 PARTICIPANTS IS REQUIRED TO ENSURE WORKSHOPS PROCEED.

Procedure: Fill in the registration form on the website. Full payment for the term must be received before the commencement of classes and will secure your child a spot in the workshop if there is availability. If your chosen class is full, you are welcome to select a different time or go onto our waitlist.

Fun. Hands-on. Confidence building. Each lesson is designed to connect art and illustration with children’s literature, including poetry. Children will experiment with watercolour paints, acrylic paints, oil and wax pastels, and a variety of media. There will be occasions when some art projects will carry over to the following week/s.

This is a great space to grow in both artistic skills and friendships. Each lesson is one and a half hours long and we work in small groups. We offer afterschool workshops on Thursdays, as well as, Saturday mornings. Please refer to the calendar or contact Debbie if you have any further questions. If there are available places, you can join at any time during the term.
